About the Organization 

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (the "College") was established by the provincial legislature in 1886 as the licensing and regulatory body for all physicians and surgeons in the province. The College is governed by provincial legislation that entrusts the College with the responsibility to establish, monitor and enforce high standards of qualification and medical practice across the province. 

The College's overriding interest is the protection and safety of patients, and the quality of care they receive from licensed physicians in BC. The role of the College is to:

  • Establish standards that must be met by physicians in order to get a license to practice medicine in BC.
  • Ensure physicians meet high standards of practice and conduct.
  • Address and deal with complaints about physicians; and where necessary, discipline physicians.
  • Ensure that medical facilities such as private surgical clinics, labs and diagnostic imaging centres meet established standards through a formal accreditation process.
  • Answer public inquiries about policies, guidelines, patient care, and medical records.

 

About the Opportunity

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia has an excellent opportunity for an Office Services Clerk to join their organization.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide support and execute the College's internal service related operations.

More specifically, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide friendly, courteous and helpful service to all customers;
  • Handle sensitive documents;
  • Co-ordinate, prepare, and process mass mailout campaigns;
  • Oversee all distribution of incoming and outgoing mail and packages;
  • Responsible for overseeing postal reports and regulations;
  • Operate various office machines and set up office meetings; and
  • Perform general office administration duties as required.


The ideal candidate will have post secondary education in general office or administration, and have strong attention to detail and accuracy. The successful candidate will have strong computer skills, including a high level of efficiency using spreadsheet, word processing, and e-mail programs.

In addition, candidates will need to be able to perform physical tasks and lifting of items up to 40 lbs regularly. You must be safety conscious while operating mailing, filing, and delivery equipment.

Candidates will require strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, as well as outstanding organizational skills. If you are friendly, well presented and motivated, this is the opportunity for you! The role is full time, from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

The successful applicant will be rewarded with a competitive remuneration package ranging from $30,000 - $40,000, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition, a wide range of excellent benefits will maximize job satisfaction, including:
