About the Opportunity

Tsawwassen First Nation (TFN) has invested more than $100 million in new infrastructure, this infrastructure is essential for the continuing development taking place on its Treaty Lands.

 

TFN water, sanitary and storm systems require ongoing maintenance and servicing. The Utility Systems Operator will provide the ongoing maintenance of the level II Water Distribution System and Level III Wastewater Collection System with 30 sewage lift stations. Reports to Utilities Foreperson

 

Specific Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure timely monitoring and maintenance of the sewage collection and water distribution systems.
  • Available for after-hours and week-end system work when required.
  • Collect water quality samples.
  • Respond to ratepayer complaints and queries.
  • Work as part of a cooperative team effort, to maintain and repair as required, the “underground” sewage collection, 30 Lift stations, water distribution and stormwater drainage systems, including pump stations, hydrants, valves, meters and PRVs.
  • Maintain EOCP certification by completing required training and coursework. 
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Preferred: A EOCP level 1 certification in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collections.
  • A combination of experience and a water quality course would be considered. 
  • Preferred: Current confined space entry and rescue certification.
  • Preferred: Current Work Safe BC “OFA level 1” certification.
  • Willingness to engage in training and education to advance Operator certification and industry knowledge.
  • Experience working safely and effectively in the water distribution system.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication. Able to communicate professionally with customers, engineers, owners, and contractors.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license with drivers abstract.
  • Criminal background check required.

 

Wages:  Pay scale for this position is $31.34/hr to $35.58/hr with excellent benefits including

enrolment in the BC Municipal Pension Plan. Placement within the pay scale is based on a

review of skills, experience & internal equity.
