CONCESSION SUPERVISOR

Full Time One-Year Contract (with possibility of renewal) 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Concession Supervisor oversees the daily operation of the Salt & Cedar Snack Shack and related Impact Program concession and pop-up events. This role combines food service operations, youth mentorship, event coordination, and community engagement to help create meaningful employment and leadership opportunities for TFN youth. 

 

The Supervisor will lead concession operations by managing staff scheduling, inventory, food safety, equipment maintenance, cash handling, customer service, and cleanliness standards while also supporting youth development through the Impact Program. 

This position also plays a key role in coordinating concession services for community events, fundraisers, and pop-up operations such as Movie Nights in the Park, tournaments, and special events. The Supervisor will assist in building relationships with sponsors, local businesses, and community partners to support the growth and sustainability of the program. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Supervision & Leadership 

  • Supervise Salt & Cedar Team Members during concession and event operations  
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and workplace coaching to youth staff  
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and supporting staff development  
  • Ensure staff understand workplace expectations, customer service standards, food safety practices, and cleaning procedures  
  • Foster a respectful, positive, and team-oriented work environment  
  • Address staff concerns, performance issues, and operational challenges professionally  

Impact Program Leadership 

  • Support the goals of the TFN Impact Program by creating meaningful employment and mentorship opportunities for youth  
  • Provide hands-on coaching in:

  • Encourage youth confidence, independence, and leadership growth

Scheduling & Operations 

  • Create and manage staff schedules based on events, tournaments, and operational needs  
  • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage during busy periods and special events  
  • Coordinate opening and closing procedures  
  • Maintain smooth and efficient daily operations  
  • Communicate schedule changes and operational updates to staff  

Inventory & Supply Management 

  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels for food, beverages, packaging, condiments, and cleaning supplies  
  • Track product usage and report inventory needs  
  • Order or coordinate supply purchases as directed  
  • Organize and rotate stock to reduce waste and maintain freshness  
  • Maintain accurate inventory records  
  • Ensure staff notify management when inventory is running low  

Cash Handling & Point of Sale 

  • Oversee concession sales and POS operations  
  • Ensure accurate handling of cash and card transactions  
  • Complete daily sales reconciliation and cash-out procedures  
  • Maintain financial accountability and report discrepancies promptly  
  • Assist with sales tracking and operational reporting  

Food Safety & Cleanliness 

  • Ensure all staff follow food safety, sanitation, and health regulations  
  • Train staff on proper cleaning procedures and daily maintenance expectations  
  • Maintain cleanliness of food prep areas, equipment, refrigerators, storage spaces, and customer service areas  
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned, sanitized, and stored properly after use  
  • Monitor food storage temperatures and expiry dates  
  • Ensure garbage, recycling, and sanitation procedures are consistently followed  

Equipment Oversight 

  • Ensure proper operation and care of concession equipment including:  
  • Soft serve ice cream machines  
  • Slush machines  
  • Popcorn machines  
  • Hot dog steamers/rollers  
  • Refrigeration units  
  • POS equipment  
  • Train staff in safe equipment operation and cleaning procedures  
  • Report maintenance concerns and arrange repairs when required  
  • Help maintain equipment longevity through proper daily care and preventative maintenance  

Community Events & Pop-Up Operations 

  • Coordinate and supervise concession services for Impact Program events including:  
  • Movie Nights in the Park  
  • Community gatherings  
  • Fundraisers  
  • Sports tournaments  
  • Special TFN events  
  • Assist with planning event logistics including staffing, setup, supplies, and equipment transportation  
  • Ensure concession operations at events run smoothly and professionally  
  • Support the creation of positive and engaging community experiences  

Sponsorship & Community Partnerships 

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with local businesses, sponsors, vendors, and community partners  
  • Assist with securing sponsorships, donations, and community support for concession and youth initiatives  
  • Communicate professionally with sponsors and supporters  
  • Help coordinate fundraising initiatives and sponsored events  
  • Support the long-term growth and sustainability of the Salt & Cedar program  

Customer Service 

  • Provide excellent customer service and support staff in delivering positive customer experiences  
  • Address customer concerns or complaints professionally and respectfully  
  • Promote a welcoming and community-focused atmosphere  

Administrative Duties 

  • Maintain records related to scheduling, inventory, cleaning logs, sales, and operational procedures  
  • Assist with operational planning and process improvements  
  • Support reporting and program documentation as required  

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Previous experience in food service, hospitality, recreation, retail, or concession operations preferred  
  • Experience supervising staff and/or working with youth strongly preferred  
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills  
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment  
  • Comfortable handling money and using POS systems  
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards  
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and event-based schedules  
  • Food Safe Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)  
  • First Aid Certification is an asset  
  • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Some office work. Some extended shifts standing. All work on TFN Lands except for possible nearby special events
  • Hours will vary, with mainly day shifts and includes some evenings and weekends
  • The Concession Team Member hours will vary mostly evenings and weekends 

COMPENSATION

  • $25 per hour. Placement within the pay scale is based on a review of skills, experience and internal equity
  • Annual cost of living increases
  • BC Municipal Pension Plan – employee contributes 8.61%, employer contributes 9.31%
