Position Summary

Job Type:             Full-time, permanent

Hours of Work:  Thursday-Sunday, Night Shift Work 8:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.  

Reporting to:      Director of Operations or designate

Department:      Administration Department

Wage:                   $22.00-$25.00 hourly

 

The Skeetchestn Indian band security guard patrols all buildings and community to ensure safety and protection for the property, assets, and personnel. You will maintain a high visible presence and prevent all illegal or inappropriate actions, if there is a problem related to criminal activity, a safety issue, unauthorized personnel at the locations or other similar disturbances, a security guard solves the problem or contacts authorities to help solve it.

 

Key Responsibilities

Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Skeetchestn Indian Band policies, practices, and procedures as directed by the Director of Operations. Maintains confidentiality as required pertaining to students, members, employees, and general matters of SIB.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Protecting Skeetchestn property’s, assets, and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment
  • Acting lawfully in direct defense of life or property
  • Observe for signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances.
  • Report criminals or violators.
  • Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences.
  • Report in detail any suspicious incidents.
  • Patrol randomly or regularly buildings and perimeter.
  • Communicating with local enforcement when needed
  • Patrolling on foot and in vehicle

 

Qualifications

Training, Education, Experience

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven work experience as a Security Guard or relevant positions
  • Security Officer Certificate
  • Current Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.
  • Satisfactory criminal records check.
  • Basic computer skills
  • CPR/First Aid certificate

  • Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
  • Surveillance skills and detail orientation
  • Integrity and professionalism
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent sense of judgement
  • Can stay alert at all times
  • Genuine respect for Skeetchestn Indian Band culture and protocols.

 

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily walking or in a vehicle and at times there maybe some heavy lifting.
