Inventory Management Supervisor

The Inventory Management Supervisor is responsible for the manning, organization, direction, and control of inventory materials required for the operation of the mill.

Responsibilities

General Management

  • Implements, improves and ensures the use of a material management system to control and effectively manage inventory levels.
  • Develops recommendations on improving in areas such as deliveries, incorrect material and price discrepancies.
  • Manages inventory levels effectively to ensure cost reduction, standardization and consolidation objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Promotes good vendor relations.
  • Continually reviews working practices and make recommendations for improvements to Supply Chain Manager.

Staff Management

  • Establishes and maintains extensive partnerships and develops a positive working environment with the team and ensures the team members are empowered, encouraged, and rewarded for their contributions and performance. Mentors and guides the team.
  • Establishes and clearly defines responsibility for staff on the team and ensures the ongoing management and support of staff and effective employee performance.
  • Attracts and retains people with key skills with the focus on proficiency training and career development.

Warehouse Management

  • Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system, keeping stock control systems up to date and planning future capacity requirements.
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; co-ordination with Supply Chain Manager for issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacements.
  • Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operations, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by ensuring the cleanliness and security of the work environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience of warehouse and supervisor
  • Pursuing a recognized purchasing designation or certification.
  • Ideally have experience working within a global multinational company.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable in a small team environment and interacting with employees at all levels.
  • Strong written, verbal, listening and computer skills.
  • A leader, capable of engaging a team across a broad scope.
  • Demonstrated high standards of integrity combined with a track record of excellence in performance.
  • Effectively lead, participate, communicate and collaborate in corporate initiatives.
  • Possess situational awareness of surroundings with the ability to adapt to new and changing environments, who can relate well at all levels.
  • A high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to handle complexity as well as balance the big picture and details given scope and scale of role;
  • Business savvy from an operational perspective.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Broad background of functional experience.
  • Ability to motivate people to accomplish expected results within a team based environment.
  • Have an understanding of business management and contract negotiation as well as an appreciation for mill operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to plan, organize, lead and motivate people and delegate responsibility and authority
