Payroll & Benefits Analyst

Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Manager, the Payroll & Benefits Analyst is responsible for providing technical, training, and functional support. This position will be a key resource in the HRIS integration project and will assist with process mapping, testing, and training. This position will support the payroll team by acting as the main point of contact with external vendors, internal and external audit teams, will compile information and perform payroll data audits and analysis. 

This is a full time 2 year contract with high potential for permanent.

Responsibilities

Systems:

  • Works with payroll manger to facilitate necessary changes and improvements to payroll system involving changes to calculations, terms in Collective Agreements, code setup and system configuration to support the administration of payroll.
  • Responsible for testing all changes and troubleshooting all issues
  • Serve as a key resource for user system support and training.
  • Assists with HRIS project with a focus on data gathering and business processes mapping.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining payroll workflows and SOPs
  • Is the main point of contact with vendors to communicate and prioritize all necessary changes or improvements.
  • Ensure that issues and action items are identified, prioritized, tracked, reported on, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Manage Scheduling and Time and Attendance system configuration and work with payroll, timekeepers and supervisors to ensure accurate use of schedules and employee roles in the system.
  • Create documentation for training new and existing users

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or Diploma in IT, Human Resources or Business Administration.
  • Solid understanding of HR and Payroll business process
  • Experience implementing payroll/HR systems, experience with UKG or Payroll Guardian an asset
  • Minimum of (3) three years of related Payroll/Human Resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing/shift worker unionized environment.
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word).
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure to meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and judgment required.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze numerical data, draw logical inferences, and provide reasonable recommendations.
  • Proven ability to work in a team and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain supportive working relationships.
  • Proven ability to be flexible, confident and self-motivated.
  • Ability to deal with a diversity of people in a calm, courteous, and effective manner.
