Located on the western side of spectacular coastal British Columbia, Howe Sound Pulp and Paper is one of the oldest operating mills in the province. Commissioned in 1909, Howe Sound Pulp and Paper plays a key role in the history of the Sunshine Coast. Generations of families who were first attracted to the area by mill jobs, stayed and have made the Coast their home. 

Howe Sound is one of 8 facilities owned by Paper Excellence, a diversified manufacturer of pulp and paper that produces over 3 million tonnes of printing, writing, packaging, and specialty papers annually with a workforce of more than 3,000 strong.

We are seeking a Technical/Environmental Manager for our Kraft Operations to lead all aspects of our pulp customer service activities.  Responsible for the ISO 9001 quality & 14001 environmental management programs, the Technical/Environmental Manager is the mill’s principal liaison with the environmental regulatory agencies at all levels of government; responsible for ensuring that all testing, reporting and communication requirements are met.  Managing the mill’s laboratories and directing the mill’s environmental program including permit compliance, the Technical/Environmental Manager is responsible for quality control testing of pulp and analytical services in the Central lab facility.  Achieving results by setting aggressive targets, this is an exciting opportunity to become part of a high performance management team striving to achieve world class status.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering plus seven (7) years related experience.  Knowledge of pulp technology, operations and production methods, supervisory experience in quality control, and a proven track record in customer service within the same industry will also be an asset.
