Job Overview
We are seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our finance team and support the financial operations of the Osoyoos Indian Band. In this essential role, you will maintain accurate financial records, ensure compliance with the Band’s Financial Administration Manual, and uphold strong accounting practices. Your expertise will help streamline financial processes, support timely reporting, and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the general ledger using accounting software such as, Sage, or similar platforms, ensuring compliance with the Band's Financial Administration Manual.
- Prepare and record journal entries, ensuring accuracy in debits and credits in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other balance sheet accounts through detailed account reconciliation procedures
- Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting to verify financial data integrity
- Demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality and professional work habits.
- Prioritize tasks effectively, manage a high volume of bookkeeping transactions, and meet daily, bi-weekly and monthly deadlines and tasks.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and vendor communication
- Assist with payroll processing and related tax filings to ensure compliance with governmental regulations
- Support budgeting activities by analyzing financial data and preparing reports for management review
Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, supported by formal education in accounting.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Proficiency in Sage 300, Microsoft Excel, and related financial systems.
- Familiarity with First Nations governance, funding structures, and reporting requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong analytical and organizational abilities
- Hands‑on experience with inventory accounting, standard costing, and physical inventory counts.
- Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, including double entry bookkeeping, payroll and taxes, collections and financial concepts
- Knowledge of GAAP standards for accurate financial report writing and account analysis
- Ability to perform bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation efficiently

This is a full‑time, year‑round position, scheduled for five days per week (40 hours), with occasional evenings and weekends as required. Screening will be based on applications received, and references will be requested from shortlisted candidates. The pay range for this role is $47,500 to $52,000 annually.
