Senior Accountant /Controller

Basic Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Senior Accountant /Controller and accounting clerks handling the business operations on reserve. 
  • Review financial records and make the necessary adjustments as needed and present accurate and relevant reports to the OIBDC managers on a timely basis. 
  • Regularly organize and prepare documents for electronic filing and hardcopy files & ensure signage for legal docs are completed. Must understand file content. Must have pertinent knowledge of key people and events that would affect those files.
  • Document policies and procedure changes.
  • Understand and comply with GAAP, and ISO 9001.
  • Must prepare year end files for Auditors.
  • Utilize MS Office  with expertise in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Utilize ACCPAC including the following modules: payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, financial reporter.
  • Review EFT deposits, payroll accruals, benefit, and pension administration, WCB reporting and PEIR reconciliations.
  • Review budgets, variance reports, monthly financial reports to management and other analysis as needed; and
  • Train staff in the field to enhance effectiveness of reporting and job satisfaction.
  • Familiar with First Nation accounting practices an asset

 

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Accounting or Bookkeeping and Accounting Designation preferred.
  • Minimum 5 Years of accounting experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Willing to upgrade skills and take other courses were requested

 

Special Equipment Required:

  • Valid Driver’s License
