Your expertise will help lay a strong foundation for lifelong learning, ensuring each child feels valued, safe, and excited to explore the world around them.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide positive guidelines such as redirecting, positive language, and positive reinforcement
  • Guide for the care and safety of all children enrolled that are aligned with the center’s philosophy and policies.
  • Implementing planned program ideas that are developmentally appropriate for 3-5 years using the BC Early learning framework
  • Support in developing and implementing comprehensive curriculum plans tailored to early childhood development stages, including preschool and toddler care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge on Health, Safety, and nutrition and proper supervision at all times.
  • Able to work independently and as a team member
  • Knowledge and experience working with British Columbia Child Care Licensing Regulations and ensure the program operates in compliance with childcare licensing regulations.
  • Maintain children's attendance records, daily plans and activities and ensure all accidents/incidents are recorded.
  • Provide a safe, secure environment for children & families that is confidential and respectful.
  • Lead activities that promote social-emotional skills, motor development, and cognitive growth in a safe and nurturing setting.

Qualification Required

  • Registered certificate in Early Childhood Education in the province of B.C.
  • Registered Diploma in Early Childhood Education in the province of B.C.
  • Proven classroom experience working with children in early childhood settings with 500 hours of work experience in the early childcare field
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children
  • Minimum 2 years work experience with 3-5 years in a licensed childcare facility (valued as an asset)
  • Special needs license to practice
  • Knowledge of sign language and of the Nsyilxcən language
  • Experience and Knowledge working in an Indigenous childcare center and/or organization (valued as an asset)

Additional Requirements

  • Criminal Record Check clearance
  • Current Child Safe First Aid Certificate
  • Immunization Record & Current TB test clearance
  • Physician’s letter of competency
  • Food Safe
  • Able to lift up to 40lbs occasionally
  • Class 4 driver’s license
  • Be 19 years in age or older
