New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster the hopes and dreams of people and their communities.

 

 

MACC is one of the many services offered by New Directions. We are currently seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide assessment, consultation, and intervention with individuals and families, care providers and staff, groups, training and recommendations to a number of New Directions' programs for children, youth and adults.  This could include sensory assessments, recommendations for interventions, training for staff and/or care providers, and group intervention (i.e., social skills groups for children and adults).

 

The successful candidate will bring the following:

  • Master’s degree in Occupation Therapy (e.g., MOT).
  • Certified to practice within their discipline within the Province of Manitoba.  Accredited by a Provincial licensing body associated with the clinical discipline and in good standing.
  • Experience with care plan development, where the client's well-being is the focus, and an understanding of person-centered frameworks.
  • Clinical experience working with families adolescents, adults and children with a trauma-informed understanding of behaviours as adaptive coping responses and neurobiological patterns
  • An awareness of cross-cultural factors that impact the healing/recovery process, including inter-generational trauma and the impact of colonization on Indigenous and settler communities.
  • Experience working with clients involved with multiple systems.
  • Willingness to engage in community partnerships.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of disabilities and skills to work with families and children with neurodiversity is an asset.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills and experience with professional communication with funding agencies.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language is considered an asset.

 

The salary range for this 70 hour bi-weekly position is $36.95 to $45.81 per hour, (equivalent to $67,249 - $83,374 per annum) dependent upon education and/or experience. A full benefits package (which includes Health, Dental, and Long-Term Disability Benefits) is provided to all full-time, regular employees.

 

 

The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record, Child/Adult Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact checks; and must supply a current driver’s abstract.
