About Individualized Supports

Individualized Supports services are provided one-to-one either in the community or in the person’s home. This is a hands on support role with some offline administrative duties. The goals of people who choose Individualized Supports often include a desire to:

  • increase their confidence and decision-making abilities
  • increase personal motivation
  • have help to make new friends and have professional relationships
  • access and contribute to their community
  • improve their communication skills
  • budget and manage money
  • learn to cook and maintain a home.

 

About the Opportunity

Your role as an Individualized Supports Community Living Counsellor, Assistant Coordinator will be to provide support to the Coordinator in all aspects of administration and team leadership. You will work closely with the team to provide meaningful feedback and role-model Person-Centered Active Supports. Some of your duties can include:

 

Support

  • Providing hands on support and engage with all supported individuals in your IS area to live as full citizens
  • Supporting individuals with various life goals in the community
  • Community outings (including, but not limited to volunteering, paid employment and leisure activities)
  • Maintaining and reviewing records of daily activities and goal progression of all individuals in your IS area

 

Leadership

  • Mentoring and providing feedback to a team of counselors
  • Being involved in progressive disciplinary meetings
  • Coaching, role-modeling and mentoring your team in appropriate support techniques
  • Actively participating in the recruitment process and training new hires
  • Maintaining a strong relationship with all supported individual and families
  • Acting as a roving relief for unfilled and/or emergency shifts as required
  • Attend all leadership training as required

 

Administration

  • Supporting the coordinator with administrative tasks such as admin reviews, quarterly reports, Sharevision audits and PCAS training  
  • Assisting the coordinator with scheduling and filling relief shifts
  • Supporting the coordinator with interviews and meetings including but limited to the individuals, their families, CLBC and other agencies
  • Supporting the coordinator with the initial intake and onboarding of new individuals

 

About You

Your experience in providing sound, consistent, resourceful and creative support to adults with disabilities coupled with your leadership and management skills will enable you to flourish in this role. You are motivated by enabling individuals in achieving greater success in certain areas of their lives by providing skills and opportunities to develop, participate in their community, take part in community activities, obtain volunteer or paid employment and learn tasks of daily living. You will also meet other unique support needs including personal care.

 

Additionally, you have the following requirements:

 

Required:

  • Class 5 driver’s license
  • Access to a vehicle
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Clear criminal record (paid by CLS)
  • Clean driver’s abstract

 

  • Prior paid or volunteer experience supporting adults with addictions, ASD, FASD, PSI, DD, Concurrent
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
  • Mandt System® 
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Knowledge of Person Centered Active Supports

Hours: Weekdays (Monday-Friday)

Wage:  External Candidates = $20.75 | Internal Candidates + Base wage + $1.00
