The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is currently recruiting for a temporary, full-time Information Technology (IT) Student to join the Information Services team. The IT Student will support Information Services staff to complete assigned tasks associated with the day-to-day technical operation of Regional District services.
Reporting to the Systems Administrator, the IT Student will be responsible for:
- Assisting with hardware and software implementations and support at RDOS facilities.
- Providing assistance, advice and informal training to staff on the use of computer equipment and basic software applications such as Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint etc.
- Assisting with the operation of the RDOS Help Desk and responds to Help Desk tickets as directed by Information Services staff members.
- Maintaining Information Systems Department documentation for hardware, software and operational procedures.
- Assisting with data communications equipment setup and configuration which may include network switches, routers, wireless access points and devices, point to point wireless equipment and other related technology.
Qualifications:
- hold “Student” status meaning that the individual must be attending, just completed or returning to school, college, or university.
- Currently enrolled in a minimum two-year information technology related program.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Good physical condition with sufficient strength to handle and move computer equipment when required.
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
- Experience working with the public and providing customer service.
- Ability to work efficiently with limited supervision.
- Ability to communicate in a courteous and tactful manner.
- Ability to work on a number of concurrent tasks with deadline pressures.
- Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence and clear driver's abstract.
- Flexibility to work weekends.
This temporary, full-time position is included in the BCGEU bargaining unit. The wage for the position is $25.12 per hour (January-June) and $25.37(July-December), plus 15% in lieu of all benefits.
