Assistant Lifeguard/Swim Instructor

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is currently recruiting for temporary, part-time Assistant Lifeguards/Swim Instructors to join the Similkameen Recreation team in Keremeos, BC.

The term for this position is anticipated to start in May/June and end in early September.

Reporting to the Manager of Recreation & Facilities, the Assistant Lifeguard/Swim Instructor position is responsible for lifeguarding and aquatic instruction for a variety of age levels and abilities, performing minor facility maintenance, cash handling and providing an overall safe and pleasant customer service experience for patrons at the Similkameen Community Pool.

Qualifications:

Current Lifesaving Society National Bronze Cross certification.
Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instruction certification, optional but preferred.
Current Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED certification.
Previous lifeguard and instructing experience is considered an asset.
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Ability to pass and maintain a Police Information Check (PIC) including the vulnerable sector section.

This temporary, part-time position is included in the BCGEU bargaining unit. The hourly wage for the position is $20.00 plus 15% in lieu of all benefits and pension (total hourly wage is $23.00).
