Quality Coordinator (Site Based)

We have an immediate need for a highly motivated, safety-conscious Quality Coordinator at one of our client sites. The Quality Coordinator’s primary responsibilities include following site Inspection Test Plans and ensuring all check sheets are being completed for the work being performed. This position also requires that the Quality Coordinator notify the site team of upcoming hold points and witness critical inspections of the work. The work is primarily welding and structural steel work. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test will be required as a condition of employment.

Project Details:

14/7 schedule; 12-hour shifts

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comply with all regulatory requirements including Mines Regulations, 2018
  • Develop detailed inspection and test plans (ITP’s) for various disciplines in the construction industry with focus on welding and weld repairs
  • Identify and track all non-conformities
  • Investigate root cause and implement corrective actions
  • Perform field level inspections and update inspection records as required
  • Verification of welder qualification and testing in accordance with CSA W47.1 and W59 along with other trades qualification records
  • Interpret engineering drawings, datasheets, and product work instructions to identify the quality expectations for finished product and assemblies, individual components, and equipment
  • Maintain current calibration records of all measuring devices used for the inspection process
  • Verification of any repairs and/or modifications ensuring full compliance to code and company standards
  • Maintain accurate quality control and inspection records and coordinate the distribution throughout the organization Report all deficiencies as required
  • Ensure client submittal packages and “As Built” redline drawings are complete and accurate
  • Provide support to other departments ensuring technical and quality requirements are met 
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • 3-5 years of related QA/QC experience in an underground mining/manufacturing environment
  • Ability to operate various test and measurement equipment as instructed and as documented in procedures
  • Demonstrated experience with NDE practices and applications
  • Journeyperson Trade in Welding, Materials technology or related field is an advantage
  • Post-Secondary education is considered an asset
  • CWB Level 2 Welding Inspector certification is required.
  • Field experience with mechanical knowledge in other areas of QA/QC is an advantage
  • Well-developed organizational skills with an attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and challenges throughout the development and execution of projects
  • Demonstrate aptitude in reviewing and following highly technical and complex machinery or equipment manuals
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Commitment to working safely and following safety protocol along with corporate safe work practices and safe job procedure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) is required
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to use judgement and apply discretion when making decisions
  • Development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to work alone or in a team environment
  • Must possess strong organization skills and attention to detail
