Located in the south-central region of B.C., the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) covers an area over 10,400 km2 and is renowned for its orchards, vineyards and golf courses, as well as its widely varied landscape including deserts, mountains and valleys, pristine lakes and outdoor recreational opportunities.
The RDOS is currently recruiting for a regular, full-time Accountant II - Financial Analyst to join the Financial Services team. The Accountant II - Financial Analyst is responsible for providing advice, guidance, advanced technical support and expertise in all aspects of the annual audit and financial reporting processes, as well as providing overall financial system support.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field.
- Holds a Chartered Professional Accountant designation.
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in a related position working with accounting programs, preferably in a local government setting.
- Public practice experience including working knowledge of PSAS is an asset.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey technical financial information to all audiences. This includes written reports, presentations and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work on a number of concurrent tasks with deadline pressures.
- Ability to exercise tact, discretion and sound judgment while dealing with sensitive issues in a political environment.
- Strong ability to understand legal and technical documents.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with limited supervision.
- Ability to be courteous and diplomatic in dealing with the public and coworkers.
- Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel). Experience with Vadim or Caseware software are considered an assets.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as required.
- Ability to pass and maintain a criminal record check.
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence.
This regular, full-time position is included in the BCGEU bargaining unit. The hourly wage for the position is $45.53, Paygrade 10 (under review), plus an attractive fringe benefits package.
