Located in the south-central region of B.C., the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) covers an area over 10,400 km2 and is renowned for its orchards, vineyards and golf courses, as well as its widely varied landscape including deserts, mountains and valleys, pristine lakes and outdoor recreational opportunities.

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is currently recruiting for a full-time, exempt Senior Manager of Protective Services to lead the Protective Services team.

The Senior Manager of Protective Services position is responsible for the overall management and implementation of the regional emergency management program, E911 and Emergency Fire Dispatch contracts, and the regional emergency telecommunications system. The incumbent participates fully as part of the Senior Management Team for the Regional District to promote strategic thought and action in the organization and to ensure a coordinated effort in the delivery of services.

Qualifications: 

  • Post-secondary degree in emergency management, or public safety from an accredited educational institution. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Emergency management certification in British Columbia is required for incumbents without formal education in emergency management.
  • Professional designation in emergency management is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years related and progressively more responsible management experience, preferably in local and/or regional government.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of emergency management experience pertaining to the operation of an Emergency Operations Centre.
  • Ability to pass and maintain a criminal record check.
  • Valid BC driver’s licence.

This  position is an excluded position in the RDOS and offers a competitive, annual salary with a range of $120,850.88 to $136,018.72, plus an attractive fringe benefits package.
