    About the Opportunity

    DCG is looking for a full-time Foreman based in Surrey, BC.

    Dorosh Construction is looking for a Construction Foreman to join our team! Although experience is an asset, more importantly, we are looking for the right person! Are you a: mentor?     In this position, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Key Duties:

    • Participate in comprehensive pre-job planning sessions to prepare for project mobilization and execution.
    • Review all available drawings, specifications, and design details to ensure a complete understanding of project requirements.
    • Examine the full project scope, identifying critical work areas, schedule constraints, and resource needs.
    • Conduct an in-depth review of the Foreman’s Job Package (to come) to confirm alignment with overall project goals.
    • Take part in upcoming Estimate Reviews to understand budget expectations and productivity benchmarks.
    • Identify potential risks, logistical challenges, and coordination needs ahead of project start-up.
    • Arrive on site early each day to assess weather conditions and ensure readiness for scheduled activities.
    • Maintain and update a two-week look-ahead schedule, identifying labor, material, and equipment needs.
    • Hold daily coordination meetings with the Superintendent and Lead Hands to plan work for the next two days.
    • Review and discuss burn rate and crew productivity metrics to maintain progress within budget.
    • Confirm crew requirements, materials, and equipment needs two days in advance of each activity.
    • Place orders for all required materials, tools, and equipment at least 48 hours ahead of planned work.
    • Review concrete take-offs prior to each pour to verify quantities and formwork readiness.
    • Coordinate with subcontractors for pumps, testing, concrete delivery, and other specialized services.
    • Proactively engage in all planning activities that contribute to successful and efficient project delivery.
    • Ensure the Foreman’s truck is stocked and prepared daily, including first aid supplies and required tools.
    • Oversee site operations to maintain high standards of quality, productivity, and safety.
    • Communicate clear daily expectations to the crew regarding safety, workmanship, production goals, and site culture.
    • Maintain detailed daily diary notes summarizing progress, workforce, weather, and key observations.
    • Capture a minimum of five site photos per day documenting work progress, conditions, and quality.
    • Measure and record daily production quantities, such as contact feet or cubic meters of concrete placed.
    • Communicate potential Extra Work Orders (EWOs) to the Superintendent and Project Manager promptly.
    • Code and submit purchase orders, timesheets, and packing slips accurately and on time.
    • Conduct site shutdown procedures at the end of each day, ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are secured.
    • Keep as-built drawings current with all field changes and progress updates.
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with owner representatives, consultants, and subcontractors.

    Safety Duties:

    • Understand and follow all policies outlined in the Health and Safety Manual.
    • Conduct and document crew talks each morning, reviewing the Crew Hazard Assessment and updating it as site conditions evolve.
    • Ensure every worker is oriented and equipped with proper personal protective equipment (PPE) for the next day’s work.
    • Lead weekly toolbox talks and safety newsletter discussions with all personnel on site; collect signatures from all attendees.
    • Perform a weekly site safety inspection by 12:30 PM each Tuesday, including worker participation, sign-off, and photo documentation.
    • Immediately report all incidents, near misses, first aid cases, and property damage to the Safety Coordinator.
    • Verify completion of required equipment inspections and ensure all deficiencies are addressed promptly.
    • Request additional training or certifications for crew members when required to maintain job safety standards.
    • Communicate regularly with the Safety Coordinator regarding fall protection plans, safety concerns, or any questions requiring clarification.
    • Uphold compliance with all company and regulatory safety standards to ensure the well-being of all workers and subcontractors on site

    Human Resource Duties:

    • Recognize hard, smart, quality work immediately
    • Discipline as per the company rules when required
    • Mentor and train crew to Dorosh standards
    • Hold yearly and update reviews with crew members
    • Identify Hi Potential people
    • Get time in to Super by 10am the following day

     

    About You

    To qualify, you will need 2+ years of Construction Foreman experience. A valid driver’s license is required.

    Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

    • Familiarity with safety and risk management processes
    • Ability to mentor junior staff and support professional development
    • Ability to self-motivate and work independently
    • Excellent planning and organization skills
    • Strong communication and leadership skills
