Certified Sales & Rentals is currently recruiting to fulfill a Mechanical Team Supervisor (Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyperson) role. This position is primarily responsible for performing mechanical maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, machinery, and industrial systems. The Mechanical Team Supervisor (Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyperson) works safely, completing all required safety documentation and follows proper safety procedures. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test will be required as a condition of employment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • It is expected that the Mechanical Team Supervisor‘s time will be on the shop floor providing guidance, mentorship, and hands-on assistance to the team and help to manage workflow through the shop
  • Provide mentorship to mechanics, millwrights, and shop laborers to increase their knowledge, technical skills, and understanding of a wide variety of equipment, vehicles, and tools
  • Facilitate training of workers in using tools of the trade including cranes, hoisting and lifting devices, pull test beds, hand tools, diagnostic tools, etc.
  • Ensure mechanics, millwrights, and shop labourers understand the flow of work to complete all required steps in the diagnosis and repair process according to QA/QC protocols
  • Communicate issues of importance as well as job updates to the Mechanical Maintenance Manager in a timely manner

Mechanical Work

  • Troubleshoot and repair underground/mobile equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair remote control system
  • Maintain battery powered equipment
  • Repair drive train components
  • Estimate and quote rebuilds and repairs
  • Work with equipment, hand and power tools, lock-out/tag-out, driving, and working independently
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers
  • Maintain and support equipment records and repair history
  • Provide data for cause and failure analysis
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Manage work and projects effectively and accurately
  • Meet deadlines for commissioning and repairing equipment
  • Other related duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Journeyperson certificate preferred; willing to consider apprentices, and applicants with previous mechanical work experience
  • Familiar with hydraulics, electronics, engine and transmission diagnostics, and battery powered equipment
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Experience in mining mobile equipment and other heavy mobile equipment
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
  • Any valid safety-related training certificates would be considered an asset
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to use judgment and apply discretion when making decisions
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Valid drivers license
