About the Opportunity

Currently, Bellwyck is looking for full-time Machine Operators (Gluer) based out of our Toronto, ON or Owen Sound, ON facilities. We are hiring for our day, afternoon, and weekend shifts with the following schedule:

  • Day shift - 6am to 4:30pm, Monday-Thursday 
  • Afternoon shift - 5:15pm to 3:15am, Monday-Thursday
  • Weekend shift - 7am to 7pm, Friday-Sunday 

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Being responsible for setting up and operating the folder/gluing equipment (Bobst) and all accessories to required specifications 
  • Coordinating machine set-up and running with Checker/Trimmer/Handler crew to ensure the packing end of the Gluer is prepared for start-up and operation
  • Partnering with the Checker/Trimmer/Handler crew during the running of the Gluer with regards to problem issues, jams, running speeds, etc.
  • Being responsible for ensuring a high-quality product is consistently produced
  • Undertaking in-process inspections and making necessary adjustments to the machinery, reporting non-conformances to Quality and/or the Production Supervisor
  • Adhering to Quality, Standard, and other operating procedures as well as Health and Safety practices, notifying the Production Management Team of any issues or concerns
  • Being responsible for ensuring department-related paperwork is complete and accurate, and entering production data into the system
  • Being responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance and documenting appropriately
  • Being responsible for ensuring delivery, inline, and packing end of gluer is clear for pharmaceutical line clearance

More About You 

In order to qualify for this role, a minimum of 1 year of experience setting up and operating manufacturing equipment, preferably in the printing/folding carton industry is required. 

As our ideal candidate, you have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of equipment, make decisions under pressure, and set priorities. You are a self-motivated individual with a passion for continuous learning, as well as tenacious attention to detail. You have keen visual inspection skills to detect quality defects, with the mechanical aptitude to analyze and troubleshoot machinery and gluing process issues. You have excellent communication and team-building skills to ensure a positive working environment for fellow team members, along with the ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment.

To successfully perform this role, you must be able to lift up to 50lbs, along with proficiency with computers and the ability to learn/use custom software programs.
