About the Opportunity

The Lands and Resources Project Coordinator is responsible for developing and overseeing special projects that are ʔaq̓am lands and natural resources-based, according to natural law and qanikitȼi (ʔaq̓am values and principles) for the use and benefit of all ʔaq̓amnik̓ (ʔaq̓am people present and future generations). In addition to the projects they oversee, the Lands and Resources Project Coordinator provides specialized technical support to ʔaq̓am community growth. This position reports directly to the Manger, Lands & Natural Resources and supports and collaborates with other staff within the Lands and Natural Resources Department, including the Director of Lands and Natural Resources, Forester, and Land Code Advisor, playing a role in the development and implementation of the ʔaq̓am Strategic Plan.

Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Develop and implement natural resource projects in accordance with the ʔaq̓am Community Strategic Plan and the ʔaq̓am Land Use Plan.
  • Plan, organize and facilitate engagement with members through Community Meetings (virtual or in-person) and respond to inquiries from membership related to land and natural resource use.  
  • Work with the Manager to implement projects related to lands and natural resources, including: Terrestrial Ecosystem Restoration, Archaeology, Potable Water, Forestry, Environmental Site Assessments and Remediation, Climate Adaptation and Invasive Species Management. 
  • Prepare requests for proposals, solicit quotes and develop contracts for approval; respond to contractor inquiries/requests and maintain an on-site presence during project implementation

More About You

In order to qualify for the Lands and Resources Project Coordinator role, you must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position, a Diploma in Resource Management and relevant field experience administering contracts and working with contractors.  Previous experience working for an Indigenous Community is an asset as well as experience with grant writing, administration, budgets and reporting.  Proof of a clear criminal record including vulnerable sector check.  Provision of a clean driver's abstract and a Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Salary will commensurate with experience from a range ($57,379 - 78,000) and includes a favorable benefits package and pension plan.

Preference will be given to candidates of Ktunaxa or other Indigenous ancestry and ʔaq̓am encourages applicants to self-identify within your application.
