About the Opportunity

We are currently recruiting a Temporary Cemetery Project Coordinator to join our team in Cranbrook, BC.  The position will run from September until December, depending on the timing of recruitment and hiring.  

The Cemetery Project Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative, financial and coordination of the Cemetery Updating project to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of funding and the successful completion of the project. This position is the first point of contact for the project workers and Community Members in relation to the cemetery updates.

Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Implement the Cemetery Project goals and objectives as funded through the First People’s Cultural Council Heritage Infrastructure Program.
  • Consult and engage with the community on the structure to be built for a Memorial for those Members who have been cremated and the location of benches and information kiosks.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of the project crew and contractors as they implement the updates.
  • Assist with funding and grant reporting, as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

More About You

In order to qualify for the Cemetery Coordinator role, you must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with Community members, staff, suppliers and external agencies.  You have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with Grade 12 or GED Equivalent, preferred.  You are able to work a degree of flexible hours to accommodate project activities and have 1-3 years relevant experience, preferably.  You have excellent organizational and time management skills with a working knowledge of Worksafe BC regulations.  You have knowledge of Ktunaxa/Indigenous ways of knowing and culture.  Proof of a clear criminal record including vulnerable sector check.  Provision of a clean driver's abstract and a Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Hourly rate is $31.50 up to 40 hours per week for the term, plus 4% vacation pay.

Preference will be given to candidates of Ktunaxa or other Indigenous ancestry and ʔaq̓am encourages applicants to self-identify within your application.
