About the Opportunity
We are currently recruiting a Full-time, Temporary Home Support Worker to join our team in Cranbrook, BC. The position is for one year, with possibility of extension. The Home Support Worker ("HSW”) is responsible for providing house cleaning services, transportation, food deliveries, and other home support activities and/or wellness events/programs as determined by the case manager. The Home Support Worker is required to adhere to procedures and standards involving a high degree of accuracy in observing, recording and reporting data.
Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assists clients to provide a safe, clean environment in the home
- Performs home management tasks including but not limited to: dusting, vacuuming, mopping, laundry, cleaning fridge/stove, cleaning bathrooms, and meal preparation Perform administrative duties related to clients, including maintaining client chart, filing etc.
- Understands and follows the client care plan developed by the ʔaq̓am nurse, client, and family
- Reports unsafe conditions, changes in the client’s physical or mental behavior
- Completes activity sheets accurately by following the client care plan and submits the activity sheets on a weekly basis
- Completes monthly/annual in-services as directed and attends ʔaq̓am Health and Wellness staff meetings
- Maintains strict confidentiality of information gained during the course of duties
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with ʔaq̓am policies, standards, and procedures, and as directed by the ʔaq̓am nurse
More About You
In order to qualify for the Home Support Worker role, you must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role related to cleaning/homemaking and demonstrated housekeeping skills. Minimum grade 10 education, Food Safe Level 1 Certificate, and completion and possession of Valid CPR and First Aid Certificate. Proof of a clear criminal record including vulnerable sector check. Provision of a clean driver's abstract and a Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
Rate of pay will commensurate with experience from a range of $26.48 - $35.81 per hour plus 4% vacation pay.
Preference will be given to candidates of Ktunaxa or other Indigenous ancestry and ʔaq̓am encourages applicants to self-identify within your application.
