New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster the hopes and dreams of people and their communities.
Shift Staffed Homes (SSH) is one of the many services within Adult Services at New Directions; providing person-centered support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities who may experience complex health issues. SSH strives to promote a sense of belonging and provide opportunities to engage in a meaningful life. This is achieved by creating a home environment that welcomes the participation of adults, supporting their pursuits, interests, goals, and helping maintain and strengthen the bond between the adults and their significant others. We provide an environment that is non-judgmental, safe and caring. Shift Staffed Homes operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Working as part of a team providing care, support and guidance to individuals in their homes and in the community
- Administering medication,
- Providing transportation, and
- Performing household chores
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- 2 or more years of direct support work experience is considered an asset
- First Aid/CPR training considered an asset
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training (NCI) considered an asset
- American Sign Language (ASL) is considered an asset
- Must be available for a variety of shifts from June to September
The salary range for this term 80-hour bi-weekly position is $17.11 to $23.10 per hour, dependent upon education and/or experience. This term position will end September 2024
The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record, Child/Adult Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact checks; and must supply a current driver’s abstract.
