ND Property Services (NDPS) is a social enterprise of New Directions that provides lawncare and property maintenance services in the community with our participants. Our goal is to provide participants with the training and experience needed to be successful in obtaining employment in the community.

 

The Team Lead acts as a supervisor and mentor to students participating in programing and with external partner organizations. The Team Lead is responsible for providing training and oversight to participants, working alongside them on various lawn care jobs and renovation projects. The Team Lead supports participants in overcoming barriers to success, and acts as a mentor for students. The Team Lead will be accountable for completing contracted work, maintaining and servicing equipment, purchasing job-specific materials, teaching & modelling practical and soft-skills, and supervising the job site.

 

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Perform lawn care and property maintenance work, ensuring all related tasks are completed based on the project scope.
  • Work collaboratively with students to ensure work meets customer needs including project expectations and timelines.
  • Attend and participate in weekly project meetings to report on job status and assess scope of work.
  • Provide direct supervision to participants, managing performance and areas of development.
  • Support site team administratively, including developing work schedules, tracking scheduled hours, and remitting hours.
  • Documents performance management issues and collaborates with Coordinator on the management of on-going performance concerns.
  • Assesses participant’s emotional stability and supports participant in strategies to resolve problems/challenges.
  • Support participants in meeting goals set out in individual support plans, such as developing practical and soft skills related to the worksite.
  • Purchase necessary products and equipment, while organizing and maintaining records of supplies
  • Handle documentation for vehicle expenses.

 

Qualifications Include:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in general property repair and maintenance, including home renovations and lawn care.
  • Previous supervisory experience, while maintaining the ability to work independently on projects and independent tasks.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification is required.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with the ability to operate a motor vehicle unsupervised.  Access to a vehicle is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated skills safely and effectively using hand / power tools in home renovations and repairs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of related Workplace Safety & Health legislation/requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Safe Work Practices, including but not limited to safe work procedures, ladder protocols, hazardous materials management & disposal, lawn care safety, bodily fluid and needle disposal protocols, site evacuation plans, etc.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, Work, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language is considered an asset.
  • The successful candidate must also have the availability to work a variety of shifts (including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends).

 

The salary range for this 70-hour bi-weekly position is $23.63 to $30.71 per hour dependent upon education and/or experience. This 1-Year Term position is eligible for a full benefits package (which includes Health and Dental Benefits, and Long Term Disability Benefits).

 

The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record and Adult/Child Abuse Registry Checks; and must supply a current driver’s abstract.
