The Shared Living Supervisor acts as the primary point of contact for the Direct Support Workers operating within Shared Living Services. Responsible for providing supervision and evaluation, the Supervisor oversees the development of staff teams in a community home environment. The Supervisor is responsible for fostering positive relationships with individuals living in the homes, with a focus on person-led services, their family members, and staff teams. The Supervisor engages with the Share Living Services leadership team in the planning, consultation and implementation of various projects and initiatives within the service area. 

 

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Fosters and maintains positive relationships with individuals, their family members and collateral supports to maintain effective service delivery.
  • Builds positive, respectful, and non-judgemental relationships with individuals and their families.
  • Ensures individuals’ needs and goals are met and supported with a person-led approach.
  • Liaises with collateral supports such as schools, day services, social workers, and healthcare professionals.
  • In collaboration with the person supported, ensures that annual Person-Centered Plans (Personal Outcome Measures) and My Support Plans are up-to-date, communicated to support staff, and goals are met.
  • Teaches, models, and encourages socially acceptable and healthy behaviour
  • Provides direct supervision to staff, managing performance and areas of development.
  • Supports staff team administratively, including developing staff schedules, tracking scheduled hours, and remitting hours.
  • Documents performance management issues and collaborates with Human Resources on the management of on-going performance concerns.
  • Coordinates and facilitates regular cohort meetings and in-home development training.
  • Promotes ongoing learning and development of Direct Support Workers, including new hire orientation, corporate education, and professional development.
  • Assumes a combination of direct support shifts (which may include days, evenings, overnights and/or weekends) and assigned administrative shifts.
  • Addresses and deescalates crisis situations utilizing conflict resolution and non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
  • Assists people supported to book appointments as needed and assist with attending appointments as needed. This may include coaching with time management, transportation, attending the appointment with the person etc.
  • Acts as an authorized co-signer on house accounts and accounts of the individuals as designated by the Case Manager and/or Substitute Decision Maker.  This also includes assisting with tenancy issues impacting people supported.
  • Coordinates daily, weekly, and monthly budgeting, goal setting and personal spending with individuals, as needed.
  • Ensuring required data is documented and tracked on a monthly basis and submitted to evaluation team. 
  • Verifies and authorizes Mileage & Expense Claim Forms and Time Sheets from staff, for submission to Payroll/Accounting. 

Other Position Requirements to Note:

  • VARIETY OF SHIFTS - May be required to fill in shifts in the schedule if a staffing shortage arises, including day, evening, and weekend shifts. 
  • ON-CALL - Scheduled leadership team rotation and for service area emergencies/crisis response. 
  • TRAVEL - Requires occasional visits within the community to sites in Winnipeg and eastern Manitoba. 
  • DRIVER'S LICENSE - Requires a valid Manitoba Class 5 drivers license and access to a vehicle. 

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in the adult disability services sector (or related field).
  • Post-secondary education (diploma) in Disability & Community Support or a social services field (e.g., social work, psychology, healthcare management) from a recognized post-secondary institution. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of six (6) months previous supervisory experience, while maintaining the ability to work independently on projects and independent tasks.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification is required.
  • A demonstrated awareness and appreciation of diverse cultures and traditions.
  • Basic knowledge of financial management and budgeting.
  • Demonstrated organization and time management skills, with an attention to detail with record keeping and administrative tasks.
  • Proven ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, Work, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.  
  • Fluency in American Sign Language is considered an asset.

 

The salary range for this 80-hour biweekly position is $23.63 to $30.71 per hour, dependent upon education and/or experience. This position is eligible for a full benefits package (which includes Health and Dental Benefits, Long Term Disability Benefits, and a Pension Plan). 

The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry, Prior Contact, and Adult Abuse Registry Checks.  A recent Driver’s Abstract and Driver’s Safety Rating must be provided.
