About the Role

We have a great opportunity for a Dining Room Manager to lead the Dietary Services team at our busy and bustling Premier Retirement Community. 

In this role, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of all front-of-house food and beverage service activities, while ensuring the utmost professionalism and hospitality from your team. 

Overseeing a team of 20 professionals, your key duties will include (but aren’t limited to):

  • Ensuring the delivery of service to residents during meal times reflects the standards of Adelaide Place
  • Taking responsibility for all aspects of the Dietary Services team such as interviewing, hiring, disciplining, and coaching, in conjunction with the Executive Director
  • Maintaining effective oral and written communication and exemplary human relations with residents, families and team members of other departments, while always using appropriate lines of communication
  • Ensuring all Dietary Services team members are familiar with safe food handling procedures and infection control measures
  • Coaching all members of the Dietary Services team to the standard of excellence desired
  • Working closely and effectively with the Executive Chef and the Executive Director
  • Giving direction, and assisting in maintaining a safe and clean environment for residents and team members
  • Displaying a high standard of visual presentation in Dining Room and team member appearance

The Ideal Candidate

This role is well suited to someone with an unwavering commitment to exceptional service delivery. The prospect of maintaining the high standards (for which Adelaide Place is renowned) is exciting to you. You enjoy a challenge, are accepting of feedback and an exceptional communicator.    

To qualify, you must be a results-oriented person with previous hospitality management experience. Experience working with retirement communities is preferable, but not essential for success in this role. What is essential is your ability to lead a sizeable team and motivate them to achieve service excellence. To do this, you will demonstrate a positive and professional manner at all times and be an empathetic and hands-on leader.   

Strong attention to detail will serve you well in this role, as will any knowledge of banquets and catering/food service for special events. A genuine passion for customer service is needed, as is the desire to build meaningful relationships with your team and residents of Adelaide Place. 

As an effective leader, you will also be familiar with HR practices, as well as budgets, inventory management. Most importantly, you must have a working knowledge of operational and legislative requirements related to food service.
