About the Opportunity
VictorEric Design Group Ltd. is currently seeking an Intermediate Architectural/Interior Design Technologist to join our team in Vancouver, B.C.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing building designs for various projects, taking them from the concept stage to construction-ready sets of drawings. You will work collaboratively with our team and engage with municipal contacts to ensure compliance with building codes, inspection processes, and bylaws, focusing on both wood-framed and concrete building construction.
Key responsibilities:
- Developing models and detailed working drawings using advanced expertise in REVIT and proficiency in AutoCAD
- Applying experience in the local residential industry to enhance the design process
- Ensuring compliance with provincial housing legislation (e.g., Bills 44, 46, and 47)
- Integrating sustainable design principles like NetZero, Passive House, and BC Step Code into projects while meeting building codes
- Producing accurate, construction-ready blueprints that adhere to zoning regulations and bylaws
- Meeting project deadlines and updating status in project management software (e.g., CoConstruct, Buildertrend)
- Providing construction administration support, including revision sketches, site instructions, and change orders
- Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and sub-trades to secure project materials and services
- Preparing sketches and sample boards for presentations to municipalities and clients
- Collaborating with interior designers, suppliers, and contractors to optimize space utilization and construction methods
- Coordinating with internal team members and external stakeholders to address project challenges and inquiries
About You
To qualify, you will need at least 3 years of working experience in the local custom design field, with intimate knowledge of city bylaws particularly in Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, North Vancouver, and West Vancouver, along with:
- Proficient knowledge of zoning bylaws, building codes, municipal laws, inspection routines, and permit application process
- Post-secondary diploma or equivalent in Building Technology, Drafting Technician, Architectural programs, or related studies
- Experience in architectural drafting and design, with strong skills in REVIT
Moreover, the following will be considered an asset:
- Certified as a Registered Interior Designer
- Strong background in design, architecture, and construction of single-family, wood-frame construction
- Experience in corporate office interior design
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Sketchup (3D Modeling)
- Good sense of design and aesthetics
