Prince Rupert Grain Ltd. opened in 1985 and built a terminal to improve Canada’s ability to export grain and oilseeds. We now offer the best route for Canadian grain bound for Asian and mid-east markets. With an annual export capacity of over 6.25 million tonnes, we offer the highest throughput of any grain-cleaning elevator in Canada.

Our state-of-the-art terminal cleans grain as fast as it can be unloaded from rail cars, in excess of 13 cars per hour. With eight shipping bins and three tower-mounted loading spouts, we are able to load up to 4,000 tonnes of wheat or barley per hour.

About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Maintenance Planner to join our team in Prince Rupert, BC on a full-time basis.

Your more typical responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Support all EH&S procedures and policies
  • Prepare work packages for planned maintenance activities including preventative maintenance schedules and routes to minimize the least amount of downtime required
  • Supervise stores department including the ordering, receiving, and inventory management including reorders and maximum levels of spare parts to assist maintenance activities
  • Conduct an annual review of vendors, pricing, and overall performance
  • Responsible for doing life cycle cost analysis and making recommendations of options for wear items (bucket, liners, filter bags, etc.)
  • Communicate with peers regarding best practices & procedures in their facilities
  • Coordinate the transportation and the rebuilding of spare equipment through external suppliers
  • Responsible for the organization of drawings, vendor catalogs, and manuals
  • Collect drawings, manuals, and other documents to assist contractors and maintenance repairs or modifications
  • Work with maintenance and operations department to coordinate plant maintenance and shutdowns to attain all essential schedules
  • Submit engineering drawings for any further required revisions or upgrades
  • Assists with engineering for spare parts preparation and PM lists for new equipment
  • Provide technical assistance to maintenance department for all on-site maintenance activities
  • Plan and arrange activities related to equipment maintenance to enhance equipment and plant accessibility, and competence supporting site production supplies
  • Participate in daily and weekly maintenance planning meetings
  • Execute MPI techniques to improve overall maintenance and plant efficiency
  • Support department’s compliance with any Lean Manufacturing goals and objectives

In order to qualify for this position, you must have a degree in mechanical engineering, along with 5 years of experience

As the ideal candidate for this role, you should have a high degree of troubleshooting experience and possess a superior technical background, coupled with a desire to continue to work in an industrial maintenance setting. You must also be comfortable working independently, but also as part of a team. 

Please note that occasional weekend work is required. You will also be required to complete pre-employment medical, drug, and alcohol testing, and possessing a valid Driver's License is a must.
