About the Opportunity

Airbus Helicopters Canada is looking to hire a Supervisor, Manufacturing Quality to join our team in Fort Erie, O.N., on a full-time basis. 

The Supervisor, Manufacturing Quality will be responsible for managing all AHCA Quality Inspectors. You will be accountable in ensuring Inspection KPIs and Right First Time culture is instilled within all team members, while also being responsible for managing the workload, training, and meeting all requirements (AS9100, Airbus, TCCA, EASA, etc.) pertinent to process compliance and product conformance. 

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Provide weekly KPIs and priorities for every Inspector on Manufacturing (Intermediate and Final) and Receiving Inspections based on the Dispatch list
  • Conduct the creation, approval, and revision of Inspection Documents, and ensure inspectors are adequately trained on Inspection Documents
  • Ensure the validations of all First Article Inspections (FAIs) for all new/modified parts/products/kits manufactured by AHCA
  • Supervise the creation and revision of Quality Assurance documentation (Delivery Documents, PVL, Demande d’Accord)
  • Lead and support Cost of Non-Quality KPIs by proactively engaging in timely Root Cause and Corrective Actions, Implementation of Curative and Corrective Actions, and Improvement Workshops
  • Liaise with Manufacturing Engineering and AHCA Engineering for the satisfactory disposition of NCRs
  • Support the review and ensure that processes are compliant with specifications for composite part manufacturing
  • Support all Manufacturing Technicians by coaching them on the Inspection Acceptance Criteria
  • Ensure tooling definition delivers expected part quality level, participate in the review of new tooling definition and documentation, conduct tooling conformity inspection and recurrent inspection 
  • Participate in the validation and selection of materials, advise on part makeup (lay-up, bonding, surface protection) and cure cycles
  • Provide oversight and feedback for AHCA-generated manufacturing instructions to ensure compliance with engineering drawings
  • Participate in the review, bid process of manufacturing work packages and interpretation of drawings, material specifications, manufacturing processes, etc., during the setup for new manufacturing
  • Support Manufacturing Inspection Internal and External Audit findings by identifying effective process-based root causes and corrective actions
  • Identify opportunities to mitigate risks related to manufacturing inspection and human factors
  • Conduct performance reviews for all inspectors and maintain their time cards including vacation requests and sick day approvals
  • Advocate and champion decisions based on data and support all Cost of Non Quality KPIs
  • Promote and advocate quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization 

More About You

To qualify for this role, you must possess 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, along with a diploma or equivalent in work experience/technical training. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

The following skills and experience will be crucial to this role:

  • 5+ years' experience in a composite component manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory capacity is considered an asset
  • Aerospace industry experience is an asset
  • Sound understanding of Quality Systems
  • High level of understanding of the composite manufacturing and repair processes necessary to implement controls
  • Good understanding of CAD system (CATIA V5 basics)
  • High level of understanding of AH material and process specifications
  • Ability to prepare and present comprehensive reports on Manufacturing Quality to customers and management
