About the Opportunity
Currently, Seaspan Shipyards is seeking multiple full-time Industrial Painters/Sprayers, to work in North Vancouver, BC. These positions will support the shipbuilding programs. There are two shifts of days and afternoons:
- Morning: 6:15am - 2:30pm Monday-Friday
- Afternoon: 3:00pm - 11:00pm Monday-Friday
With support from our collaborative team and state-of-the-art resources, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Applying coatings by operating conventional spray systems, airless spray systems, and plural spray systems
- Operating various types of equipment and tools such as blast pots, spray guns, airless spray systems, sandblasting tools and equipment, and rust removal hand and pneumatic tools
- Spraying with a consistent thickness, as well as applying paint with a brush and roll
- Operating and maintaining spray equipment, fixing line and guns blockages, and general equipment troubleshooting
- Applying masking materials to protect designated areas from paint, overspray, and abrasive blasting
- Meeting environmental requirements and best shipyard practices in the acquisition, application, removal, and disposal of paint, paint waste, or residuals in accordance with all requirements and federal and province laws
About You
You are looking for a long-term career rather than the next job! To qualify, you will possess a high school diploma or equivalent vocational education, with a minimum of 2 years of coating-related experience in shipbuilding and/or the industrial construction industry. The following assets are preferred, but not required:
- Knowledge/experience with industrial high-performance coatings
- Knowledge/experience of modern shipbuilding process and terminology
- Knowledge of (SSPC/NACE) coating standards
- Proficiency in the application and use of plural spray systems
- Ability to read engineering/masking drawings, blueprints, and specifications
As a valuable addition to our team, you must have demonstrated knowledge of various blast methods and processes (both wet and dry), along with the ability to mix paints and apply epoxy, polyurethane, and high-solid coatings. You have a passion for safety and environmental stewardship, with the ability to work and communicate collaboratively in a team environment and the willingness to help others.

As a valuable member of our team, you will be rewarded with a competitive hourly wage of $47.42 for Red Seal candidates, and $45.71/hr for non-Red Seal.
