About the Opportunity

The YHC has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Manager, Nutrition and Food Services, based in Whitehorse, YT.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, this role strategically manages physical, financial, and human resources, ensuring day-to-day operations optimize resources and comply with regulations in Nutrition & Food Services.

Your role is pivotal — it goes beyond overseeing food service delivery to hospital patients, staff, contracted services, and the public. It's about building trust and camaraderie among your team members, uniting them for a collective mission.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing staff recruitment, training, and performance for positive relations and compliance
  • Providing leadership for a culturally safe and inclusive environment
  • Managing efficient and reliable food service delivery for patients, staff, and the public
  • Developing and executing an annual operating plan aligned with the organization's strategic direction
  • Participating in collective bargaining, providing information, and impact analysis
  • Conducting workplace investigations, addressing misconduct allegations and breaches of collective agreements
  • Managing budgets, monitoring spending, and identifying cost-saving opportunities for Food Services
  • Developing and monitoring departmental systems, policies, procedures, and processes for effective service delivery
  • Planning, evaluating, monitoring, and implementing therapeutic menus and protocols, including traditional and local foods
  • Advising YHC departments, facilities, and partner/client facilities on food and nutrition matters
  • Ensuring compliance with Accreditation Canada, Food Safety regulations, and patient/workplace safety initiatives

What You'll Bring to the Table

Got a degree in nutrition, dietetics, commerce or a relevant discipline? We definitely want you! Do you have 3+ years of management experience in a hospital setting? Even better! Less than 3 years? You're still welcome to apply! 

Having at least FOODSAFE level 1 is a must, and when you join us, we'd love to get you to level 2.

  • You're not just comfortable with computer software; you're eager to master specific medical records software like Computrition, Meditech, UKG, and others
