The Millwright Regional Council - Canada (MRC) is composed of thirteen affiliated Local Unions of the UBC across Canada. We represent thousands of women and men working as progressive cross-trained construction and maintenance professionals with exceptional skills to install, maintain, diagnose, and repair precision machinery.

About the Opportunity

Millwrights Regional Council - Canada is seeking multiple Journeyperson Millwrights and Apprentices to join our team for various projects nationwide throughout Canada. Depending on the jurisdiction you reside in, we will connect you to the closest Local Union Office. You will also have access to the Local Union Hall and Training Centre where you are located, as well as access to the International Training Center (ITC) in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

As a highly skilled Millwright, you will be proficient in a wide range of duties involving the installation, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of machinery and related devices and systems.

With valuable training and different levels of experience, our Millwrights' varying tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Inspecting, repairing, cleaning, and maintaining industrial machinery and equipment
  • Installing, aligning, dismantling, and moving stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Operating various machinery including forklifts, telehandlers, and Mobile Elevated Work Platforms as needed
  • Fabricating of parts for maintenance of machinery and equipment
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic drawings
  • Coaching and mentoring Apprentices on valuable skills and daily tasks

About You

To apply as a Journeyperson, you will need a copy of your Journeyperson/Red Seal certification, as well as a valid Driver's License. If you're an Apprentice Millwright looking for a new opportunity or a career change, you will need a valid driver’s license and a grade 12 diploma

About the Benefits

As per our collective agreements, each province has minor variances with our Journeyperson hourly rates. In addition, you receive a percentage for vacation pay and holiday pay, pension contributions, and health and welfare.

  • Manitoba - 1st-year apprentices start at $21.28/hr, Journeyperson at $42.56/hr with the Total Package at $55.90/hr
  • Saskatchewan - 1st-year apprentices start at $29.95/hr, Journeyperson at $45.00/hr with the Total Package at $61.47/hr
  • Ontario - 1st-year apprentices start at $28.60/hr, Journeyperson at $47.67/hr with the Total Package at $67.52/hr
