About the Opportunity
GDLS-C is looking for full-time Welders. We are actively recruiting in Saint John, NB and the surrounding area to join our Production and Delivery team in London, Ontario with an attractive relocation assistance package.
Welders will be responsible for completing welding tasks while following the identified procedures in the routing books. This may include welding, grinding, sanding, cutting, and cleaning parts, as well as being able to handle physical labour in a variety of spaces. The successful candidates will be required to work in spaces where heights may vary, including vertical spaces that are 105 to 135 cm. They will also need to be physically able to squat, kneel, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, and manoeuvre in small spaces.
Your duties will also include, but are not limited to:
- Analyzing blueprints and designs
- Finding the right pieces of metal according to the design
- Following all safety and health procedures to avoid accidents and hazards
- Choosing the best equipment to weld specific metals
- Identifying issues and hazards
- Operating angle grinders and other tools
- Maintaining safe work practices
As a part of our commitment to your success, selected candidates will also receive complimentary pre-assessment support at an industry-leading training facility in Saint John.
About You
In order to qualify for this role, you will need at least 1 year of experience in welding and fitting experience in heavy manufacturing. 1 year of post-secondary education in a private welding school or community college or Journeyperson Weld certificate is a requirement, in addition to Gas Metal Arc Welding certification. Certification in all position tickets, such as Gas Metal Arc Welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding would be considered assets.
