About the Opportunity
Rowe's Group currently has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Financial Controller to join our team in Hay River, NT.
Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller demonstrates astute attention to detail, overseeing and ensuring full-cycle accounting and compliance with GAAP for all financial transactions.
Your typical responsibilities will include, but aren't limited to:
- Maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger across all divisions of Rowe's Group of Companies
- Developing and documenting processes and policies to enhance internal controls
- Collaborating with the CFO to prepare regular cash forecasts and establish trackable KPIs
- Completing monthly account reconciliations for both bank and Balance Sheet accounts
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for review by the CFO
- Conducting month-end and year-end close procedures, including reconciliations and adjustments for items like inventory, loans, prepaid expenses, and accruals
- Managing year-end working papers, spreadsheets, and preparing files for external accountants
- Analyzing and interpreting financial results to provide guidance to the executive team
- Ensuring proper maintenance and security of all legal and tax documentation, meeting statutory and fiscal reporting requirements, including government obligations
- Overseeing third-party tax advisors to ensure completion of annual tax compliance activities
More About You
To qualify, you will need or be actively pursuing a Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of Canada designation and hold a post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in senior-level accounting or financial management is required, which should include expertise in conducting full cycle accounting and preparing financial statements.
The following skills and experiences will also be essential:
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with Jonas, Caseware, Simply or other accounting software (asset)
- Working knowledge of Canadian personal and corporate tax (asset)
- Experience working in the construction industry (asset)
- Demonstrated ability to work with little to no supervision
- An astute attention to detail
- Willingness to work occasional overtime and weekends, occasional travel may be required
