About the Opportunity

Rowe's Group currently has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Senior Projects Manager, Civil Construction & Estimating to join our team in Hay River, NT. This role will require some travel as well as overtime and weekend work. 

This role is based in Hay River, NT, however, Rowe's Group is willing to offer a fly-in/fly-out rotational arrangement for the ideal candidate, with the expectation of eventual relocation to Hay River, NT.

Reporting to the senior management team, and working with Project Managers, Site Superintendents and various sub-contractors, the Senior Projects Manager, Civil Construction & Estimating is responsible for the overall construction process on the projects that they are assigned from project start-up to project closeout, including estimating and tendering.

Your typical responsibilities will include, but aren't limited to:

  • Overseeing construction sites, general contractors, and workers ensuring a high level of quality and safety 
  • Creating and reviewing Tender Estimates, Quotes, Requests for Information, and Requests for Proposals
  • Ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals and procedures
  • Ensuring that the project is documented in accordance with the contract specifications and good engineering practices
  • Reviewing contract documents, general conditions, specifications, and drawings
  • Providing support to Site Superintendents
  • Developing and tracking productivity, project cost/change controls, and project budget
  • Coordinating and monitoring schedule updates, invoices, and submittals
  • Assisting in managing and reviewing the progress of construction schedules
  • Reviewing weekly/monthly reports on contract status and progress, including project costs and potential changes
  • Providing status reports to senior management, attending client project meetings, and following up on action items as needed
  • Supporting and growing ongoing subcontractor and client relationships 

More About You

To qualify, you will need 10+ years of project experience working in a construction management role for a Commercial or Industrial organization on large-scale projects involving earthworks, highway maintenance/reconstruction, and underground water and sewer projects, including field superintendent experience, in Arctic and extreme environments. You will also need a Degree in Civil Engineering. Candidates with CET certification may also be considered if they have relevant managerial experience.

The following skills and experiences will also be essential:

  • Proven track record of estimating and bidding in civil construction projects
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 
  • Experience with project management software such as Primavera or Microsoft Project
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Ability to define tasks and milestones to achieve objectives and ensure optimal use of resources
  • Proven track record of building strong client relationships
