About the Opportunity

Airbus Helicopters Canada is looking to hire a Senior Quality Engineer to join our team in Fort Erie, O.N., on a full-time basis. 

The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and/or Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) regulations for aircraft airworthiness, return to service after maintenance, repair, or alterations. This position will also be responsible for supporting/mentoring quality inspectors in the daily activities related to maintenance, coordination of Aircraft & Engine Calendar and/or hourly inspections, repairs, alterations and conformity inspections of aircraft parts, paint, and related Backstop, Maintenance Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) activities. This role will act as a quality interface between internal and external customers for nonconformance resolutions to design specifications and customer aircraft delivery activities.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Represent the Certified Repair Station (CRS) or Transport Canada Civil Aviation Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) for the approval of aircraft, airframe, aircraft engine(s), propellers/rotors, appliances, or component parts for return to service (RTS) after inspection, maintenance, preventive maintenance, rebuilding, or alterations
  • Compile and maintain a comprehensive list of airworthiness directives, alert service bulletins, and optional service bulletins
  • Document and preserve maintenance or inspection records of aircraft, engines, dynamic components, rotor blades, and component changes
  • Record and document major repairs or alterations using the appropriate regulatory forms
  • Issue standard airworthiness certificates for production aircraft as an authorized Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR)
  • Issue airworthiness approvals for domestic and export airworthiness, conformity inspections, and return to service of inspected products and articles
  • Validate inspections and compliance of life-limited and cycle-limited components, airworthiness directives, and emergency alert service bulletins
  • Ensure proper preservation and maintenance of airframe and engines, including adherence to applicable intervals and calendar maintenance schedules
  • Validate testing and inspections of various aircraft systems and instruments in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements
  • Witness functional/operational tests, checkouts, and adjustments of aircraft radios and navigational instruments
  • Perform dimensional and functional/operational inspections of aircraft, electrical systems, flight control systems, and sub-components to determine airworthiness after maintenance, repair, or alteration
  • Inspect and assess electrical, manufacturing, paint, and composite outputs for serviceability and installation on aircraft
  • Conduct inspections of aircraft structures for cracks, corrosion, damage, and proper assembly
  • Categorize parts as serviceable, repairable, or rejected/scrap
  • Read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, reports, and test specifications for aircraft airworthiness

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you must possess a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Aviation, Engineering, or equivalent related field experience, along with 10+ years of related experience in quality inspection of aircraft components and systems. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

The following skills and experience will be crucial to this role:

  • Certificated aviation maintenance technician (AMT) and/or TCCA Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (AME) 
  • Ability to interpret technical and regulatory documentation
  • Familiar with inspection tools, aids, and devices used in determining tolerances and specification limits
  • Ability to interface with the external customer in regards to aircraft and aircraft records presentation at delivery
