About the Opportunity

Glencore is looking for full-time Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to join their team in Onaping, Ontario, just outside of Sudbury, Ontario. This opportunity would have a 5 days on, 5 days off, 4 days on, and 4 days off shift rotation.

Your duties will also include, but are not limited to:

  • Participating in appropriate training and complying within the scope of their responsibilities within the Sustainable Development Management System
  • Communicating with the Mechanical Coordinator on issues pertaining to materials/parts availability, maintenance systems, modifications to equipment, and changes in standard practices
  • Receiving and following oral and/or written instructions from the supervisor including schematics, sketches, wiring diagrams, and priority requirements
  • Following established, safe procedures, including Five Point Safety system, and P.P.E. in adjusting, repairing, servicing and assembling/disassembling of mechanical equipment
  • Maintaining housekeeping standards and providing a safe working environment
  • Troubleshooting equipment using testers and instruments and referring to repair manuals, schematics or diagrams as necessary
  • Performing preventive maintenance by inspecting, adjusting, lubricating, repairing or replacing faulty components on mechanical equipment
  • Reporting any issues that could result in equipment outages or unsafe work conditions
  • Communicating orally and/or in writing, requirements to the maintenance planner for work orders and parts and material requirements 
  • Utilizing the computerized Maintenance Management System to access equipment and warehouse information, to generate requests for materials required, and to initiate work orders for immediate an “to be planned’ work

About You

To qualify, you will need 3+ years heavy duty equipment mechanic or related experience, and be a licensed heavy duty mechanic who possesses a 421A license. You must also be able to work underground. Mining experience is preferred, but not required.
