About the Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Scheduling Specialist to join our team in Delta, BC on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a hybrid role with a mix of working from home and from Boundary Bay airport in Delta, with a training period taking place fully in office.
The successful candidate will oversee the short and long-term scheduling and forecasting for a large, unionized workforce. You will ensure on-time quality service to customers at optimal cost by assigning the right number of workers at the right time.
More specifically, your main duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Forecast short and long-term staffing needs
- Publish schedules for multiple operations across different job classifications
- Monitor various work queues to ensure optimal resource utilization
- Deliver advanced planning of staffing levels in response to operational changes while controlling costs
- Liaise with team leaders to understand workforce capabilities and skills for better work allotment
- Communicate schedules and assignments directly to employees/team leaders
- Identify and communicate workforce trends to the business to highlight future resourcing opportunities and risks
- Identify high-cost drivers in the schedule and rectify through schedule re-work or adjustments
- Deal effectively with employees’ concerns regarding their schedules
- Update and manage the work queues in real time based on priorities to meet deadlines
- Take initiative in identifying schedule opportunities or risks, and implementing solutions
- Analyze workforce and skill gaps, and develop a workforce planning action plan
- Ensure compliance with the Collective Agreement and liaise with union representatives
More About You
In order to qualify for this role, you will need 2-3 years of related scheduling experience within an unionized environment, with a diploma or degree in business administration being a strong asset.
Additionally, the following would be strong assets for this position:
- Working knowledge of IAMAW collective agreements
- Ability to interpret and apply collective agreements and associated policies and procedures
- Knowledge of scheduling/forecasting systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required
- Experience with database ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, MS Access)
As our ideal candidate, you can liaise with a variety of stakeholders in a courteous and tactful manner, with superior communication and interpersonal skills. You are able to work well both as a member of a team and independently, with the ability to apply discretion and sound judgment to personnel scheduling information and efficiencies.
We are looking for someone who is highly detail-oriented, with strong organizational, multitasking, and time management ability. Above all, you are collaborative with exceptional decision-making and problem-solving skills.
