About the Opportunity

Currently, Qualimet is looking for a full-time Welding Engineer to join their team in their office in Edmonton, Alberta. 

You will be responsible for liaising with clients regarding project scopes and timelines, troubleshooting any issues, and ensuring client provide final approval. The Weld Engineer will also be responsible for managing inbound marketing leads and helping to develop proposals with the sales department.

Your duties will also include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing project orders and proposals to understand project scope
  • Planning project steps and timelines and introducing the project to the client
  • Executing the project and ensuring all timelines are met
  • Following up with the client at key project milestones, incorporating client feedback, and ensuring final approval on changes and jurisdictional approval
  • Daily reviewing open projects to ensure they are on time and on budget, managing project timelines
  • Reviewing project files prior to submitting to Accounts Receivable for invoicing and completing the first review on the invoice from Accounts Receivable
  • Coordinating initial prospective client or client requests and working with Sales to create and follow-up a proposal
  • Assisting with developing a marketing plan, including target clients, services to promote, and policies regarding pricing and advertising
  • Participating in developing promotional ideas and materials, and ideas and materials for Qualimet's website and newsletter

About You

To qualify, you will need to be a Professional Engineer or Technologist, with a Materials, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering Masters Degree, or equivalent diploma. You will also need 3+ years of experience in materials or welding engineering disciplines. A Masters degree in Welding Engineering would be preferred.

The following skills and experiences will be required:

  • Be a practicing Member of APEGA or ASET
  • Possess a valid class 5 Drivers Licence
  • Possess a Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certification Level I, working toward CWB Level II or Level III
  • Possess Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) Welding Examiner certification or eligible to be certified within two years
  • Knowledge of ASME and CSA Construction Codes and Standards
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication in English
