About the Opportunity
We are currently looking for a Civil Construction Project Manager to join our team in Fort St. James, BC, on a hybrid work model. This role offers residence flexibility in Prince George, Vanderhoof, or surrounding areas.
This position offers a 12-month contract with the possibility of transitioning to full-time employment based on performance and business needs.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be joining a new civil construction division and your essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Investigating and estimating available work, considering current and future needs, and accurately estimating costs for small and medium-sized projects
- Defining and meeting client goals and project objectives, ensuring clear communication and alignment
- Monitoring staff utility rates and overseeing project progress to ensure efficient resource utilization
- Scheduling logistics, personnel, and subcontractors to ensure timely project completion.
- Supervising work crews and maintaining overall site safety during drilling, excavating, and loading activities
- Tracking project status, performance, and completion to ensure successful outcomes in terms of both technical aspects and budget
- Reviewing jurisdictional guidelines and protocols for proper sample collection methods and data compliance
- Reporting all technical aspects of project work in compliance with client and regulatory requirements
- Conducting annual compliance sampling, reporting, and liaising with regulators for adherence to regulations
- Reviewing analytical data for waste acceptance criteria at our facilities
- Coordinating with the supervisor to ensure smooth execution of jobs and effective communication between the project team
- Securing and engaging with subcontractors, including negotiating contracts and managing their performance throughout the project
- Ensuring proper supply chain management, including monitoring and maintaining adequate supplies to support project operations
- Providing support to the superintendent on-site, addressing any challenges or issues that arise and facilitating efficient project progress
About You
To qualify, you will need to have 2 - 5 years of experience as a Project Manager in Civil Construction. A valid class 5 driver's license is also required for this role.
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Business development experience, preferably in the natural resources sector or civil construction
- Familiarity with partnering with First Nation organizations in business development
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Willing to travel as required
- Strong business acumen and understanding of finance operations
- Ability to handle a variety of reports based on project requirements
- Entrepreneurial spirit with a focus on future gas lines, pipelines, dozers, trucks, sewer, water, and other aspects of civil construction
- Multi-faceted experience in civil construction projects
- Prior experience in managing smaller civil projects
- Professional certifications such as P.Eng, P.Ag, RT.Ag, CET, PMP, EP (asset)
