Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic
We are currently recruiting Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our Nhwelmen-Lake team, centrally located between Kelowna and Kamloops, British Columbia. This schedule will be 7 days on, 7 days off. - 5T Service Truck or equivalent minimum vehicle with mechanical service body containing tools, welder, air compressor, oxy/acetylene, and remote-controlled crane for on-site use only is provided – Mechanics will be required to provide their own limited tool kit to be discussed at time of hire
- Positions are ‘Point of Hire’ only – no LOA or pickup (see daily travel allowance above)

Candidates should demonstrate a history of skilled experience repairing Cat® Heavy-duty equipment including but not limited to servicing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling and maintaining mobile heavy-duty construction equipment. Experience required in hydraulics, attachments, drive trains, tracked vehicle suspensions and steering.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with co-workers
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment
- Accurately complete all work reports and maintenance logs
- Clean tools and equipment check for defects, maintain/repair as required
- Participate in pre-job hazard assessments and inspections prior to commencing any job
- Follow and complete work orders including recording parts used by part number and quantity
- Clean, lubricate and perform other daily and scheduled routine maintenance work on equipment
- Testing repaired equipment for proper performance to ensure work meets manufacturers’ specifications
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease down-times, and streamline work processes
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems using hand and power tools
- Daily inspection of heavy-duty equipment for defect faults, malfunctions, and proper performance
- Diagnosing faults or malfunctions to determine the extent of repair required or replacement
- Service attachments and working tools such as blades, ploughs, winches and side booms
- Follow equipment maintenance schedule and ongoing preventative maintenance
- Follow safety procedures and ensure good mechanical practices
- Regularly perform Safety inspection of equipment
- Perform other related tasks as needed
Requirements:
- Ability to pass mandatory Drug/Alcohol pre-screen and obtain FIT test in advance of employment start date
- Ability to complete mandatory internet-based Orientation and Indoctrination training and certification
- Class 5 Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and ability to provide a clean Drivers Abstract
- Respect for company policies
- Experience working on mine site an asset
- Basic welding skills strongly recommended
- Complete work while being environmentally friendly
- Self-supplied Red Seal Heavy Duty Tool Kit Repair tools
- Knowledge and competency of safe work procedures
- Ability to pass Drug and Alcohol pre-screening
- Competency in email communications
- Position requires clean shaven face
- Work as a team member
Location: This position will be based out of the Elk Gold Project which is located approximately 57 km from Merritt, BC. operated by Gold Mountain Mining Corp., but will be required to travel to other sites in the Merritt and Kamloops area.
