About the Opportunity

FIO has an opportunity for full-time Tool & Die Makers to join their team. This position is based at our Stratford, Ontario office

The Tool & Die Maker will be responsible for stamping presses and mechanical repairs for various manufacturing equipment. They will also be responsible for the implementation of continuous improvement activities to equipment, including verification and effectiveness of the change.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshooting formability problems, such as splits/cracks or wrinkles and distortions
  • Identifying flaws in the finished product or operation of tooling and taking corrective action
  • Performing preventative maintenance on dies including electrical and mechanical checks in accordance with standardized procedures
  • Troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems that are commonly integrated within stamping dies
  • Operating cranes to safety move and turning dies for preventative maintenance, repair, or operational needs
  • Fitting and assembling parts using a variety of hand tools
  • Performing welding, hand finishing, grinding and polishing
  • Reading and interpreting drawings and specifications of tools, dies and stamping tooling
  • Operating a variety of machine tools to cut, turn, mill, plane, bore, grind, and shape the piece being worked on to a very specific dimension

About You

To qualify, you must have 3+ years experience as Tool & Die Maker, and an Ontario or Inter-Provincial Tool & Die Maker Certificate. 

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated track record of showing sound judgment in decision-making and establishing priorities
  • Demonstrated track record of being proactive and oriented towards making improvements in systems and procedures

Please note that being available for overtime shifts will be required.
