About the Opportunity

We have the following opportunities for multiple full-time Heavy Duty Mechanics (shop and/or mobile) to join our team:

  • Shop and Mobile Heavy Duty Mechanics in Barrie, ON 
  • Shop Heavy Duty Mechanics in Spruce Grove, AB

You will be involved in a variety of exciting projects where no two days will be the same and you will ensure the effective operation of a diverse fleet of equipment (from the oldest to the most modern).

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Maximizing equipment availability by performing efficient and proactive preventative maintenance programs
  • Diagnosing faults and malfunctions, and carrying out necessary repairs including major component replacement and repair or rebuild 
  • Sourcing parts and supplies when necessary as well as testing repaired equipment for proper performance 
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment and working individually as well as in a team environment
  • Performing other preventative maintenance such as inspections, lubricating, oil changes, and failure analysis
  • Making sure work orders and equipment logbooks are completed accurately
  • Complying with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other policies and procedures
  • Assisting with other duties as required

About You

To qualify, you will need 5+ years of related experience and a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification (or are in the process of getting one), we will also accept Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians.

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • Extensive experience in hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting and repairs
  • Understanding of all equipment types and ability to repair them
  • Work in remote locations when necessary and travel to them
  • Capable of working independently and in teams
  • Flexibility in working within different shifts and timeframes when required
  • Compliance with safety guidelines is a must
  • The ability to work outdoors as well as indoors all year round
  • Experience working with railway equipment (asset)
  • Class 3 driver's license with air endorsement and clean driving abstract (asset)

You will need to be able to complete a pre-employment criminal background check, medical exam, and drug screen.
