About The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Electrical Engineer to join our team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. 

Reporting to management, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for supporting various design, engineering, and construction projects throughout Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta.

More specifically, your essential duties and responsibilities will include:

• Managing and coordinator projects
• Ensuring manpower, material and equipment resources are properly allocated
• Liaising with clients and contractors
• Reviewing project costs and identifying areas where improvement can be made
• Assembling cost information, and assisting with bid takeoffs, proposals, and quotations
• Creating power system and power relay related detailed designs for new and existing system upgrades
•  Modelling and analyzing electrical distribution systems, including short circuits studies and arc flash hazard analysis
• Performing site visits and field work for data collection and model validation
• Procuring equipment and ensuring they match equipment specifications
• Mentoring of junior technical staff
• Conducting work in a manner prescribed by JA Tech’s Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Manual
• Work with Safety and Human Resources to ensure client site and company requirements are met

More About You

To qualify, you must have 5+ years experience in an intermediate or senior Electrical Engineering role in the oil and gas industry, and be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered and in good standing with APEGS.

In addition, you must also have the following skills and experiences:

• Strong knowledge of electrical codes and technical standards
• Proven leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
• Practical experience related to construction, installation, and commissioning of electrical power system equipment with a strong focus on protection and relay systems in the oil and gas industry
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and ETAP
• A valid driver's license
• Ability to travel to job sites as required
