About the Opportunity
Mainstreet Credit Union has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Wealth Management Advisor to join our campus in Sarnia, Ontario.
The Wealth Management Advisor is primarily responsible for providing holistic planning advice and financial guidance to new, and self-sourced Mainstreet Credit Union members utilizing mutual fund investment solutions. Internally, the Wealth Management Advisor will work in collaboration with the retail branch network and commercial lending division to ensure a team approach to member advice conversations, leading to a steady stream of member referrals. The Wealth Management Advisor will also build an active community presence, leading to the development of new wealth management and banking relationships.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Analyzing and identifying the needs of members and developing recommendations, supported by financial planning tools to assist members achieve their financial goals with an emphasis on holistic advice and mutual fund sales
- Actively engaging in member conversations to uncover other product and service opportunities, and develop new profitable member relationships
- Collaborating with retail and commercial advice staff in order to achieve growth targets as set out in the credit union strategic plan
- Ensuring sales processes favour and respect member objectives over sales targets
- Seeking out and following up on referrals from all Mainstreet Credit Union staff, existing members, and outside referral sources
- Assisting in the preparation of plans for business development within the community and driving the sales management process through programs of outside calls, in-branch promotions and other activities designed to expand the existing member base
- Ensuring policies and procedures are followed according to established guidelines and carry out responsibilities in an ethical manner
More About You
To qualify, you must have a 5+ years experience in a financial or wealth management advisor role. You must also have a Certified Financial Planner, Qualified Associate Financial Planner, or Personal Financial Planner designation, and are licensed to sell Mutual Funds. Candidates who are close to completing a Certified Financial Planner or Personal Financial Planner Designation would be considered if they are a good fit.
As our ideal candidate, you will also need to have the following skills and qualifications:
- a post-secondary diploma or degree, ideally in Commerce or Business Administration
- Proven track record of building and developing relationships, and able to sell by identifying client needs and providing appropriate solutions
- Display exceptional interpersonal skills by demonstrating approachability, trustworthiness, flexibility and a strong work and service ethic
- Understanding of investment industry trends, markets and investment products
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills
About the Benefits
In exchange for your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with a total possible compensation of $58,115 to $91,700 per year**, based on skills and experience, and incentives earned. The following benefits are also included:
- 20% Target incentive per annum - $14,528 to $18,340 based on your base salary
