About the Opportunity
Currently, Charleson Engineering Ltd has an exciting opportunity available for an Intermediate Structural Building Draftsperson to join our team in Winnipeg, MB on a full-time basis.
Under the direction of the Senior Structural Engineer, you will provide drafting expertise on a variety of building design projects, ranging across a wide spectrum of types, sizes, and industries. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work from home or at our Winnipeg office, with occasional site visits, and work closely with fellow team members, consultants, contractors, and our clients.
As our Intermediate Structural Building Draftsperson, your typical responsibilities will include:
- Preparing sketches and detailed drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Creating a variety of technical drawings according to specifications and calculations
- Liaising with architects and engineers to ensure drawings align with overall project requirements
- Ensuring final designs are compliant with building regulations
- Identifying and communicating potential design problems and achievable solutions to the design team
- Managing drawing standards and a library of typical structural details
About You
In order to qualify for this role, you'll be a Certified Engineer Technologist (CET), and be eligible for registration with the Certified Technicians & Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM). You will also have 5 to 10 years of experience in a structural building design office.
The ideal candidate will bring the following skills and experience:
- Understanding of basic drawing setup modelling technique and general knowledge of drafting standards
- Ability to draw manually as well as being proficient in AutoCAD
- Proven experience detailing and drawing building structures
- A valid driver's license is preferred
- Working knowledge of Revit (asset)
- Ability to develop drafting process and procedure standards
- Experience with on-site construction reviews and project management (asset)
- Teamwork, communication and willingness to take on work when needed are essential
Furthermore, you will join us with excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form. You are able to work effectively both in a team environment and independently, while possessing interpersonal skills to communicate with clients.
