About the Opportunity

Avalon has an opportunity for a full-time Site Supervisor - Multi-Family Construction to join their team. This position is based at our Calgary, AB office

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating project scheduling with subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and inspectors to complete each project in the specified time
  • Proactively anticipating potential problems that may impact the project performance
  • Communicating with the project team and support each subcontractor to execute his job duties effectively and efficiently through proactive planning and diligence
  • Identifying and resolving problems and conflicts, organizing meetings and cooperating with team members in various roles as necessary
  • Monitoring quality control of work performed and its adherence to the construction documents, and project requirements
  • Traveling between multiple job sites and simultaneously managing work loads of individual projects
  • Holding weekly schedule coordination meetings with all subcontractor foremen to outline requirements of work completion, and other issues as may be required including but not limited to manpower requirements, interference coordination, inspections, and sequence of work
  • Managing the Company Health, Safety and Environmental program as outlined in the Company Safety manual and provide safety and accident reporting as required
  • Supervising subordinate staff in their duties, and teaching and mentoring them as required

About You

To qualify ideally, you must have 5+ years experience as a Multi-Family Construction Superintendent, Supervisor, or in any equivalent supervisory capacity. Candidates that only have experience as a Single-Family Construction Superintendent, but are otherwise a good fit will also be considered. 

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • Proficient with taking and uploading digital photographs
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, and scheduling software, such as Microsoft Project
  • Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, specifications, and other documents
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Excellent communication and confrontation management skills
  • Demonstrated track record of excellence in organizing and priority management
