About the Opportunity
Avalon has an opportunity for a full-time Senior Accountant to join their team. This position is based at our Calgary, AB office.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Producing accurate accounting reports and presenting their results
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP principles
- Performing monthly balance sheets, income statements and changes in financial position and budget variance analyses
- Supporting month-end and year-end closing process
- Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Spotting errors and suggesting ways to improve efficiency and spending
- Participating in financial standards setting and in forecast processing
- Preparing financial statements and producing budgets according to schedule
- Liaising with Avalon's Controller to improve financial procedures
- Assisting in the design and preparation of budgets for review by management
About You
To qualify, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management, and 5+ years experience as a Senior Accountant or Auditor in the Real estate or construction industry. You will also need to have completed or are in the process of completing a Certified Public Accountant designation.
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy
- Familiarity with accounting software, such as Sage
- Demonstrated track record of accounting expertise, leadership, and finding different solutions
- Experience handling year-end audits
