About the Opportunity
Currently, Miller Capilano has opportunities for multiple Highway Maintenance Workers/Equipment Operators to join our team in North vancouver and Squamish, BC, on either a full-time or part-time basis.
As part of the Miller Capilano team, you will perform a number of year-round maintenance tasks to keep roads in good condition.
With continuous training and mentorship, some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and operating maintenance equipment such as patrol trucks, tandem dump trucks, single axle trucks, hiab crane trucks, loaders, snowplows, spreaders, tractors, and other vehicles
- Undertaking various duties as necessary, including emergency works, traffic control, pothole patching, snow removal, and clearing up highway obstacles and debris
- Completing all required paperwork including driver inspection documents, vehicle safety checks, timesheets, and reports
- Performing required preventative and routine equipment maintenance, including cleaning/washing the interior and exterior of all equipment and vehicles, changing plow blades, minor equipment repairs, greasing equipment, and refuelling equipment after use
- Maintaining a good relationship with the public and other team members, as a representative of the organization
About You
To qualify, you need to be an energetic and personable individual with a valid Driver's License with a clear driving record and a continuous desire to upskill. Preference will be given to individuals who possess a Class 3 or Class 1 Driver's License, but we will help train those without, if they have the right attitude and applicable experience.
Our ideal candidates will have:
- Experience in highway maintenance and/or road building/utility construction
- Light or Heavy Equipment Operator License or experience (asset)
- High School Diploma or equivalent Adult Graduation Diploma
- Able to work shift work as this role involves revolving day, afternoon and night shift work
